What Are We Doing to Address Poverty in Niagara?

Niagara Prosperity Initiative

Breakfast Since 2008, Regional Council has approved annually $1.5 million to increase prosperity for people living in poverty.

A focus on neighbourhoods:

  • To guide decisions on how and where to invest resources in Niagara, 74 neighbourhood profiles were developed identifying the assets and risk factors within each neighbourhood.
  • The profiles are used to assist in developing strategies for growth and prosperity tailored to the needs of each neighbourhood.

The Niagara Poverty Reduction Network (NPRN) is working collectively to wipe out poverty in Niagara through information sharing, changing attitudes, and compelling Niagara citizens to get involved and take action.

The NPRN represents over 30 social and health agencies, educators, business and government representatives, faith communities and individuals.
