Home Visiting for Families

Home visits are available to eligible expecting and new parents who need more support. They're provided by public health nurses and family home visitors.

We offer two programs:

  • Healthy Babies Healthy Children: Provides home visits by nurses and family home visitors to pregnant women and families with children from birth until kindergarten
  • Nurse Family Partnership: Provides home visits with a nurse to first-time parents, 24 years old and under, throughout pregnancy and until your child turns two

  • Healthy Babies Healthy Children

    Parenting can be both rewarding and challenging at times. You may need help adjusting to life with a new baby, or have questions about parenting your young child.

    Ontario's Healthy Babies Healthy Children program provides home visits by public health nurses and family home visitors to expectant mothers and new parents who need more support and can benefit from the program.

    Home visits help you learn about:

    • Having a healthy pregnancy and birth
    • How your child grows, develops and learns
    • Infant feeding and healthy nutrition
    • Taking care of yourself and your family
    • Other services available in the community

    Home visits are available to pregnant women and families with children from birth until kindergarten.

    About Healthy Babies Healthy Children

    Healthy Babies Healthy Children is a free and voluntary provincial program provided by public health nurses and family home visitors.

  • Nurse Family Partnership

    Nurse Family Partnership is an evidence-based home visiting program for young first-time mothers. The home visits are provided by trained public health nurses and occur throughout pregnancy and until the child's second birthday.

    The program can help parents:

    • Have a healthy pregnancy and birth
    • Learn about keeping children healthy and safe
    • Meet personal and family goals

    Eligibility

    You may be able to enrol in the program if you're:

    • 24 years of age or younger
    • Less than 28 weeks pregnant with your first child and / or preparing to parent for the first time
    • Living in Niagara
