Niagara Region has identified the need to replace the Hixon Street Reservoir Zone 3 Water Booster Pumping Station. This station, initially constructed in 1967, provides servicing to the residential area south of Hillside Drive. The Region's Water and Wastewater Master Servicing Plan Update conducted in 2003 identified that there is an existing fire flow capacity deficit in Pressure Zone 3 of the Beamsville System. The Region has also identified that the pump station is structurally and spatially deficient and in need of replacement. As Pressure Zone 2 in Beamsville is supplied from the same Hixon Street Reservoir site, consideration will also be given to reviewing the water supply to Zone 2, from Hillside Drive to George Street approximately.

This project will be carried out under Schedule B of the Municipal Engineer's Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (amended in October 2007).

The objective of the Class EA study is to develop and administer a plan to replace the Hixon Street Reservoir Zone 3 Booster Pumping Station. Alternative solutions of providing servicing to Zone 3 will be reviewed in the context of physical, social and environmental considerations. Through this process, the optimum solution can be determined to achieve the goal of more efficiently providing a reliable water supply that can continue to provide potable water and provide dependable fire protection to the Town of Lincoln.
