Watermain upgrade – St. David’s Road (Regional Road 71) in St. Catharines and Thorold

Niagara Region has scheduled repair work on a watermain as part of construction and upgrades on St. David’s Road (Regional Road 71) in the City of St. Catharines and the City of Thorold. The water service upgrade will take place July 7-8. Water service will be maintained to all homes or subdivisions in the adjacent areas, except for a small number of houses on St. David’s Road. Any property that will lose water service will be informed directly and drinking water will be made available for the affected homes. Other residents and business owners in the area may experience changes in low water pressure and water quality issues (turbidity/odour/colour).

Date: Wednesday, July 7 at 7 a.m. to Thursday, July 8 at 7 a.m.

We understand these repairs may cause some inconveniences. However, these upgrades are necessary. If there were to be an unexpected failure of this infrastructure, the impact would be far greater with a possible loss of water service for several days for emergency repair. By completing this upgrade work now, we can plan ahead for this service disruption and ultimately make Niagara Region’s water system more reliable and secure.

Any updates about this work will be posted on the project page on the Region’s website along with Niagara Region, City of St. Catharines and City of Thorold’s social media feeds.
