Summary

As a combined Dietary/Housekeeping/Laundry Aide position, required to perform general kitchen duties and food preparation as well as to complete various housekeeping and laundry duties as directed.

Experience

When performing Dietary Aide duties. – Minimum of six months of related experience and knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food storage and safekeeping.  Ability to read menus.  Safety and fire regulation awareness.  Must have a clear understanding of Canada’s Food Guide.  Must posses the ability to read, write, and communicate in English when performing Dietary Aide duties. When performing Housekeeping/laundry Aide duties - Minimum of three months experience in a similar setting, and experience in operating and utilizing commercial/institutional equipment and products.

Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent 
  • Completed or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Program approved by the Dietitian’s of Canada and the Ontario Society of Nutrition Management (formerly OFSSA).
  • A current Safe Food Handling Certificate from Public Health.
  • Completed recognized course in housekeeping is preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Must have a good attendance record.
  • In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.

Shift Information

Currently scheduled 0 hours days/evenings shifts.  Must be willing and able to work up to 24 hours.  May be required to work days, evenings and nights, including weekends.

Other Conditions

An employee who accepts a temporary posting must remain in the temporary position until the temporary position ends or for at least six months, whichever comes first, after which the employee can exercise any rights s/he has to obtain another position, and with a second exception that the employee shall be permitted to vacate the temporary position earlier if the employee is accepting a permanent posting.  Upon acceptance of the permanent position the employee shall not be permitted to apply or be awarded any further temporary job postings for a period of six (6) months. An employee who is hired into a job posting as a new hire shall not be permitted to apply or be awarded any further postings until the employee has passed their probationary period as defined in Article 14.01. A vacation relief employee who has been awarded a job posting shall not be permitted to apply or be awarded any further postings until the employee has passed their probationary period as defined in Article 14.01.
