Agencies, Boards & Commissions

Niagara Region has a number of partnerships with various organizations. Some are highly structured and formal --- based on legislated requirements --- while others are less so.

Each agency, board or commission has Council representation.

Niagara Regional Housing

Niagara Regional Housing is the administrator of affordable housing for Niagara Region.

Niagara Regional Housing is dedicated to providing and advocating for quality affordable housing in Niagara through a combination of programs and services including owned units, non-profit and co-op housing, rent supplements, housing allowances and new development.

Niagara Regional Police Service

Niagara Regional Police Service logoThe Niagara Regional Police Service provides policing and public safety services to all of Niagara's residents as well as approximately 15,000,000 visitors annually. The Niagara Regional Police Service aims to provide quality-policing services, with integrity.

The police service has many different units of service including a Canine Unit, Major Crime Unit, Sexual Assault Unit and Marine Unit and also works in partnership with CrimeStoppers and the Niagara Victim Crisis Support Service.

Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority

Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority logoThe Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority serves approximately 500,000 people and covers an area of 2,424 square kilometres, covering the Niagara Region, 21 per cent of the City of Hamilton and 25 per cent of Haldimand County.

The driving force behind the Conservation Authority movement was its land stewardship focus and involvement with water programs.

Other conversation authority programs focus on environmental protection and preservation and watershed management activities. These include planning, regulations, water quality monitoring and improvement through stewardship and restoration, community outreach, and conservation through land acquisition and public ownership.
